Advanced accessory and upgrade options for LMB 4x5

Clamp Adapters

Clamp Adapters allow you to quickly mount the LMB 4x5 to any cinema lens without rods. There are 14 clamp adapters available for lenses ranging from 80 mm to 162 mm in external diameter. Any clamp adapter released for any ARRI LMB-5, LMB-15 or LMB-25 will continue to work with the latest LMB 4x5.

Adapters for Rod Mounting 

The LMB 4x5 can be adapted to 15 mm LWS, 15 mm Studio or 19 mm Studio support rods. Both the Tilt and Flex Adapter and the 143mm Clamp Adapter connect directly to the 15mm Lightweight Support Console and can be adapted to studio standards with either 19 mm or 15mm Studio Rod Adapters.

The Tilt and Flex Adapter is a flexible rubber donut useful as a one-size-fits-most solution, or for smaller lenses, or for those that telescope significantly during focus pulls. It supports lenses with an external diameter of 62 mm up to 143 mm.

For productions expecting regular lens changes, the combination of an R2 Filter Ring and Reduction Ring offers a familiar and elegant solution for mating the front of a lens to the LMB 4x5. A 143mm Clamp Adapter acts as the interface to existing R2 rings, which have the additional benefit of supporting a 138 mm filter, such as a polarizer. Users seeking to use diopters should investigate our diopter-specific accessories below, and we don’t recommend the use of other Clamp Adapters in combination with rod mounting accessories.

Alternatively, the innovative Swing Away Tilt Module offers the convenience of lens changes without removing the LMB 4x5 from your rig. Attached with three thumb screws, it’s simple to convert a Clamp-On LMB 4x5 to a swing away one. The integrated Tilt Module allows users to tilt their matte box to avoid unwanted reflections typically created by bright light sources such as car headlights.

Diopter Accessories 

The Diopter Frame supports 138 mm diopters up to +2 strength, is the width of two standard filter frames, and can be inserted directly into an LMB 4x5 Basic Module. For stronger diopters up to a +3, the Diopter Stage can either attach directly to the rear of any ARRI LMB or be used independently of a matte box with an LMB Clamp Adapter. The diopter stage also features a rotation mechanism, ideal for split diopters or 138mm polarizers. Both the Diopter Frame and Diopter Stage feature a spring-loaded safety mechanism, 1/4"-20 threaded holes for use on mounting arms, and can support 4.5” diopters with an additional adapter.

Flexible Sunshade 

In a matter of moments, with four 3 mm Hex screws, the standard, hard plastic sunshade of the LMB 4x5 can be converted to a quick-release, flexible rubber one. Perfect for close-ups, tight spaces and when camera movement needs to occur around doorways. The LMB Mattes can still be used, and a set of extended side flag holders are available to provide a place for filter tags to live.

Flexible Sunshade

Anti-Reflection Frames 

Similar in principle to the tilting component of the Swing Away Tilt Module, but supporting clamp-on configurations, the Anti-Reflection Frame can be used to angle filters to avoid internal reflections. A single filter can be fitted at an angle of 4°, or two filters can be stacked at a 1.7°.

Rota Pola Frame 

The ARRI Rota Pola Frame combines a high-quality circular polarizer in an easy to use 4 x 5.65” filter frame. Adjust the polarizer with wheels located on the top and the bottom of the frame, and lock the rotation with a click to ensure that the chosen position doesn’t shift during operation. Each Rota Pola Frame ships in a tough CORDURA® pouch, with a soft, anti-static MICRODEAR® lining.

Side Flags  

For extra flare protection, a pair of adjustable carbon-fiber side flags can be quickly attached to the LMB 4x5. Side flags fold flat across the front of the matte box for storage, and require separate side flag holders to attach to an LMB 4x5.

Mattes 

Hard mattes snap into both the standard sunshade and flexible rubber sunshade for superb flare control. Both Anamorphic and Spherical Mattes are available to suit a wide range of shooting aspect ratios, and come in five separate sizes for different focal lengths.
