ARRI congratulates the entire creative team behind “One Battle After Another” on winning the Academy Award® for Best Picture. Written and directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, the film is a bold, emotionally charged portrait of conviction, consequence, and the bonds between generations—blending political urgency with dark humor, action, and deeply human storytelling. Its recognition by the Academy is a testament to the power of cinema as an art form and to the filmmakers’ ability to challenge, move, and engage audiences on a profound level.

Out of the other nine films nominated by the Academy for Best Picture, six of them were captured with ARRI cameras.

6 out of 10 films nominated in the category Best Picture were shot on ARRI: Frankenstein, Hamnet, Marty Supreme, Sentimental Value, The Secret Agent and Train Dreams

Frankenstein

Guillermo del Toro’s long-anticipated reimagining of “Frankenstein” is a deeply emotional, large format cinematic experience that blends classical composition with modern movement. Cinematographer Dan Laustsen ASC, DFF chose to shoot the entire film on the ALEXA 65, using its large sensor to shape an image that can feel monumental one moment and intensely personal the next. Paired with Leitz Thalia lenses and serviced by ARRI Rental, the ALEXA 65 supported fluid transitions from expansive period environments to intimate closeups—retaining texture, depth, and subtle color nuance throughout.
