ARRI technology helped the event run smoothly both on-site and online. A multicam setup including three ALEXA 35 Live cameras reliably captured and streamed the event, while SkyPanel X and Tungsten lights provided consistent and professional lighting.

The first ALEXA 35 Live - Multicam Systems have been delivered and already been active in a production. At the same time a test shoot on a soccer game has been conducted.

To capture music legend Billy Joel’s historic 100th consecutive performance of his residency at Madison Square Garden, show producers turned to ARRI’s ALEXA 35 and Mini LF cameras for this primetime broadcast on CBS. 

At the first match of the Austrian Admiral Bundesliga in Graz—featuring RB Salzburg and the newly promoted GAK, back in the first division after a long absence—ARRI collaborated with SKY Austria (@skysportaustria) and TV Skyline to install a pre-series model of the new ARRI ALEXA 35 Live – Multicam System at several key camera positions.
 

The live performances were captured with ARRI gear, including a pre-series model of ALEXA 35 Live, AMIRA Live, ALEXA Mini, and 360 EVO, ensuring high-quality coverage of each act and seamless integration of the multicam system setup.
 

ARRI’s goals for this production was to create a new look for the sports world, bringing images much closer to the quality and emotion of cinema and over the top (OTT) TV series.

An ALEXA Mini set up for ARRI Multicam operation and mounted on an artemis stabilizer rig was used as part of the multi-camera coverage of Berlin’s 2021 DFB-Pokal Final – the deciding match of the 78th German soccer season. The camera was equipped with an ARRI Wireless Video System and a Fujinon ZK 19-90 mm Cabrio lens. 

The advantages of ARRI cameras for live events, from the perspective of a producer/director, a colorist/editor, and a documentary filmmaker.

The 35Live! workflow replaces traditional multi-camera approaches with digital 35mm cinema cameras and lenses that can be broadcast live or pre-recorded. Because the halftime show was live, a long-distance fiber system was used to accommodate the large scale of production. The camera order included 3 engineers, 8 ARRI ALEXA Minis, 2 ARRI AMIRAs with lenses, along with the 35Live! lens control, Super 35 sensor, and ancillary accessories.

The recording of the musical “The Lion King” utilized a five-camera configuration of the ARRI Multicam System, incorporating four AMIRAs and one ALEXA Mini. This highly cinematic method of capturing a live theatrical performance was a first for Disney.

For the first time during a live production, the look of the camera image could be changed at the push of a button without time delays. Loading different looks in a live modus is only possible with ARRI cameras and even grading takes place directly in the camera. Director Thomas Janze confirms: “This world premiere with the ARRI live looks in a multicamera network worked flawlessly. The only ‘problem’ we experienced was that we had to make a choice from a variety of great options. ARRI has a library of 288 prepared LUTs and they all look fantastic.

The pleasing skin-tone reproduction of the ARRI cameras perfectly complemented footage of cherished moments between family and friends and the interactions between bandmembers.

The world’s top fashion design companies are demanding ever higher standards of coverage for their shows.  The French company PhotoCineRent has become one of the leading specialists in multi-camera shooting, using ARRI AMIRA and ALEXA Minis. Its founder and director, Albrecht Gerlach, talked to us about the complexities of coordinating as many as 18 cameras to bring seamless coverage to high fashion.

When French comedian Florence Foresti presented her one woman show at Montpellier Arena for an audience of 8,000 people, nine ARRI AMIRA and ALEXA Mini were used by Roger Films to capture the spectacle. Cameras, serviced by Visual Impact France, were equipped with Ereca Camracer optical fiber interface and Fujinon Zoom Lenses (25-300, 19-90, 14-35, and 85-300). The AMIRA Multicam System brings the picture quality you’d expect from ARRI and embeds it into existing infrastructure. It’s part of a growing trend to raise production standards and bring a ‘cinematic look’ to TV shows. The makers of one popular German program made the change and have been delighted with the results. 

Streaming the 20th anniversary concert of the Xinghai Concert Hall in the Chinese city of Guangzhou posed many challenges – the AMIRA Multicam system rose to them.

For the largest multi-camera utilization of ARRI cameras to date in the UK, ARRI AMIRA cameras were called upon to capture The Who live at Royal Albert Hall in London.
