Flexible access to Xtreme and cine functionality

No customer left behind

The versatile and adaptable ALEXA 35 platform allows any individual camera to be upgraded to the functionality of any other. Most upgrades can be implemented quickly and flexibly via downloadable software licenses; others require new hardware and must be carried out at an ARRI service center. Cine features can be added to live cameras and vice versa, all under the guiding principle that no customer is left behind, nor locked into a single way of working.

Xtreme upgrade for ALEXA 35 Live (2026 onwards)

All new ALEXA 35 Live cameras sold from 2026 onwards feature ARRI’s latest hardware and are therefore Xtreme-ready. This means that customers can temporarily or permanently upgrade them to the same high-speed functionality as the ALEXA 35 Live Xtreme by purchasing the High Speed and High Frame Rate SDI Licenses.

ALEXA 35 Live models sold prior to 2026 can also be upgraded to Xtreme functionality, but they require new hardware to be installed at an ARRI service center. This hardware upgrade makes them Xtreme-ready, enabling features such as picture-in-picture focus tracking and the highest possible frame rates through temporary or permanent High Speed and High Frame Rate SDI Licenses.

Cine functionality upgrades

ARRI’s cameras for live entertainment come with Look and Multicam Licenses included, allowing them to integrate seamlessly into standard broadcast workflows. In addition to the high-speed options available for the ALEXA 35 Live and included with the ALEXA 35 Live Xtreme, various cine-style functions can be activated via flexible licenses. These include the ARRIRAW, Open Gate/Anamorphic, Pre-record, and Look licenses.
