ARRI supports Taiwanese film festival

The Taipei Golden Horse Film Festival is a major film industry event not only for Taiwan, but also for the whole of Asia.  A multi-faceted event, it comprises the Golden Horse Film Academy, Golden Horse Film Festival, Film Project Promotion and Golden Horse Awards. The Golden Horse Awards is recognized as being among the most prestigious awards ceremonies for Chinese-language movies.

For the second year running, ARRI Asia sponsored the Film Project Promotion, which aims to promote collaboration between Chinese filmmakers and international industry professionals, as well as to increase the visibility of Taiwanese and Chinese film productions.

ARRI hosted a series of activities during Golden Horse week to enhance communications with the film community, recognizing that the events attract a diverse range of directors, producers, cinematographers and other industry professionals from across Asia. These activities commenced with the FPP Opening Party to welcome representatives from 25 selected film projects, including filmmakers and investors. ARRI equipment such as an ALEXA XT camera, AMIRA camera and ARRI lighting fixtures from the L-Series and M-Series were on display.

The ARRI party, held on day two in a German restaurant with Bavarian decorations and delicacies, was a great success.  The event began with a warm welcome speech from Paul Ivan, Managing Director of ARRI Asia.  Over 150 guests, including FPP participants, cinematographers, business partners, TV broadcasters and delegates from film schools and institutes, enjoyed a great evening.

ARRI's workshop, presented by Los Angeles-based cinematographer Bill Bennett, ASC, was held the day before the Golden Horse Award winners were announced.  Bennett gave a talk entitled 'The Art of Lighting Automobiles' and shared his techniques and experiences shooting aerial sequences with an ALEXA XT and the new ARRI Ultra Wide Zoom UWZ 9.5-18/T2.9. The workshop was well attended with over 100 guests, and well received.
