Arnold & Richter, more commonly known as ARRI, was founded in Munich in 1917. A large number of revolutionary developments in film technology - including the design of the first commercially produced motion picture camera with a revolving mirror shutter - have since made a major contribution to both the technical and creative process of film making.

Today, ARRI is an international synonym for the world's best-selling cameras, as well as for top quality lighting.

The company has received 11 scientific and engineering awards from the
Academy of Motion pictures, Arts and Sciences, most recently in 2003. ARRI

In addition to the manufacturing and assembly departments, the development, design and testing departments as well as the central service department are located in Munich. The Munich headquarters also provides a whole range of services for film and television production including its own sound stage, a laboratory for processing all film formats, editing facilities and even a commercial cinema and event space.

The Munich based camera rental offers the entire range of ARRIFLEX cameras together with the latest ZEISS lenses and accessories.

ARRI's lighting rental, also located in Munich, is the largest operation on the European continent and has been the official supplier for major events such as the Salt Lake City Winter Olympics, Albertville, Lillehammer and Barcelona Olympics and the World Trade Fair in Sevilla.

ARRI TV is one of the leading facility houses in Europe with the latest technology for editing, telecine, interformat dubbing, computer animation and post production. The sound editing and mixing studios and the digital audio editing suite are fully equipped for the highest demands in film and television audio editing and mixing.
