This projector now offers some interesting new technical features, especially useful for film-labs:
- Film capacity up to 2200 ft / 670 m
- Simultaneous display of:
- fps
- frame counter
- feet counter
- remaining film running time
- Operational 3 perf or 4 perf transport
- Visible controls of DTS, SRD, SDDS, DS
While the workprint provides critical evaluation of dailies, the LOCPRO 35 video transfer offers video copies at, literally, no additional cost.
To save on expensive Telecine transfers, the LOCPRO 35 features a 1/3" CCD Color High Resolution Imager for film-to-video transfers. With just the flip of two knobs, the wall/screen projection can be switched to video. The video image is high quality and according to editing people, very well suited to their editing process.
The LOCPRO Y/C and composite signal output is used to record video images on VHS, ¾", Hi8, DV or Beta-SP formats. The video signal also facilitates the direct digitizing into an AVID film composer. The signal is synchronized at an accurate 29.97 or 23.976 frame rate.
Conventional viewing systems, film or video projectors, make viewing special effects sequences especially difficult. One either has to deal with a screen that is too small, an image whose quality is inferior or a projector lacking the mechanical ability to move a single frame forward or reverse.
The LOCPRO 35 provides freeze frame, single frame, a running speed of up to 60fps and a shuttle mode of 2OOfps in forward and reverse. All these functions are easily performed via the palm shaped control knob or through a remote control. The image size at wall projection provides important details to judge compositions of live action shots with computer generated images.
The LOCPRO 35 operates with a 400W HTI bulb providing 5.400° k. The best image performance is achieved by placing the LOCPRO 35 12.5ft (3.8m) from the wall or screen which translates into a screen width of 6.6ft (2m). The foot lamberts at this distance average between 14 and 16, which conforms to film laboratory and post-production requirements.
The intermittent, high precision, double-sided sprocket drive advances the film from single frame to 60fps and up to 200fps in the shuttle mode. The intervals are less than 0.01 seconds apart, providing a maximum of "projection time" resulting in a bright and flicker-free image.
An additional slide in the film gate area reveals the film's perforation holes for steadiness tests.
