New IVS for the ARRIFLEX 435
A new improved IVS is now available for the ARRIFLEX 435 and 435 ES. Carrying on the successful design of earlier models, the new IVS 435 II is also integrated into the camera body without the need for additional cabeling but now offers some exciting new advantages:

  • Better colour setting Both the red and blue channel can be set individually, enabling colour reproduction to be optimally adapted to working conditions.
  • Optimized image resolution during camera run When the film camera is running, the light for the video assist is only available for 50% of the time. In the past, this has made half field resolution technically unavoidable. With the new electronics, the missing fields can be regenerated, enabling an image quality close to full resolution. The image appears very steady on the monitor.
  • New "film-like" exposure mode The video assist camera can optionally be set to the same shutter time as the film camera itself. In this way, the same time resolution can be attained on the recorded video image as on the film. 'Strobe effects' can thereby be assessed beforehand in the video image.
  • Flicker-free OFF In time-critical situations, the frame-store can optionally be switched off in order to eliminate any delay between the live-action and its depiction on the video monitor. This enables for example lip sync for music video shooting to be evaluated on the video assist.
  • Flicker-free to 1 fps The lowest camera speed at which the video image remains flicker-free has now been extended to 1 frame/second in Manual Gain Control Mode. This ensures that even at low camera speeds a flicker-free video image can be recorded.
  • Saving settings Up to 6 settings can be stored and recalled, making available various user-defined settings for different shooting situations.
  • 1.1 Amp power supply from the mini-monitor output The mini-monitor socket with its 1.1 Amp power supply can now also handle monitors or displays with higher power consumption.
  • Full remote-control All functions including gain control and white balance can now be remote-controlled via the serial interface. This makes all functions accessible even when working with a crane. A software to control these functions is currently being developed.
  • Y/C output on the mini-DIN and BNC sockets The Y/C signal is now available alternatively from a mini-DIN socket or from the BNC sockets on the back of the IVS. Commercially available mini-DIN cables can be used or the signals can be transmitted via two standard BNC cables. This means that in Y/C operation one of the two sockets is immediately a pure black & white output.
  • More robust design The lower BNC socket has a new protective covering, the video lens is protected from slipping out of its holder due to operational handling errors, and the mini-monitor socket now has a metal cover in order to prevent shearing it off.
The IVS 435 II replaces the previous version and is now deliverable
