Function Expansion Module FEM-2
The Function Expansion Module FEM-2, seamlessly closes the gap between the ARRIFLEX 435 Advanced and the ARRICAM System. Now the Lens Data System (LDS), with all its time saving features is available for demanding MOS and special effects shots. Determining and precisely controlling the depth-of-field becomes much easier – especially important for product and effect shots – in addition to the programming of any kind of ramp, from simple speed ramps to much more complex applications. When using the ARRICAM and 435 Advanced together on one production, the same accessories can be used for remote control. This is a decisive advantage for rental as well as for the production budget. All important interfaces are integrated into the FEM-2: the motor control for the lens motors, the wireless transmission, the connection for both Lens Data Displays and a new camera remote control interface through LCS bus for WRC-1 and WHA-2. All of this together makes for a compact and efficient camera system. The two Lens Data Displays can now be comfortably used, as they are with the ARRICAM. This means precise and extensive information at a glance. The LDD Classic displays up to three lens scales at the same time. The LDD for the Focus Puller (LDD-FP) shows two scales in a graphic display and the third one numeric. Due to its particularly compact design, the LDD-FP can be mounted almost anywhere on the camera. Especially recommended : on the mattebox in focus-puller´s line of sight. Several brackets are available for that particular application. The newly developed software increases the accuracy of exposure. Ramps from time lapse (0.1 fps) to normal speed to slow motion can now be executed easier and more precisely due to the new concept of process control and the interface for the lens motors. Thanks to the Lens Data System there is no need to program the iris scale into the WRC-1 anymore. The data is automatically read from the lens. This way it takes dramatically less time to program a ramp, operation is easier and possible errors during selecting or setting an iris scale are eliminated. As requested by many users, shorter ramp times can now be realized. In combination with the FEM-2, the 435 Advanced demonstrates its full potential in fast speed ramps: a ramp from 24 to 150 fps, which takes a 435 ES 3.15 seconds (11.42 s. screentime), takes just 1.26 s (4.57 s screentime) with the 435 Advanced in a combined iris/shutter compensation controlled through the WRC-1. Depending on the speed range, ramps can be now executed up to 2.5 times faster.
