ARRIFLEX 235

F E A T U R E S

A bright and ergonomic optical viewfinder can be freely rotated and extended just like the ARRICAM or 435 viewfinders, allowing for comfortable viewing in any camera position. The view- finder is available in either a spherical or universal version, which can be switched between spherical and anamorphic viewing. The 235 viewfinder is accompanied by a video assist that has the same image quality and features as the highly praised ARRICAM and 435 video assists. Through a new and unique optical design viewfinder and video assist are independent of each other, making a switch from handheld to Steadicam very fast and eliminating the need for a 100% video top.

Maximum mounting flexibility is given by the 235 Side Bracket SBR-1, that can hold the MB-20 matte box, multiple lens motors and/or the Lightweight Follow Focus LFF-1, which is pictured here. Compatibility with existing ARRI electronic accessories makes life on the set easier. Pictured here is the External Display EXD-1, that allows the assistant to see what is going on from both sides of the camera or remotely.

Since the 235 works with the existing 60m/200' and 120m/400' 435 style magazines, it can easily share
magazines with the 435 or 35-3. For handheld use, two well balanced and lightweight new magazines
have been designed: a 60m/200' and a 120m/400' shoulder magazine. For Steadicam use, a special 235
120m/400' Steadicam magazine is available. Get here an overview by the 235 Magazine Selector.

Working with the 235 is comfortable and easy; many tried and trusted elements from other ARRI cameras have been incorporated so there is almost no learning curve. The 235 control panel, video assist settings and threading method closely resemble their counterparts on the 435.

Rental houses and crews can continue to work with the already familiar inventory of equipment. The 235 is compatible with the vast majority of 35 mm production gear, including all 35 mm format PL mount lenses, the ARRI Remote Control Unit (RCU), Wireless Remote Control (WRC), Universal Motor Controller (UMC-3), Iris Control Unit (ICU), Electronic Synchronization Unit (ESU) and the ARRI Wireless Remote System (WRS). To further increase the 235's compatibility, it uses the full range of 435 ground glasses.

Since the 235 has been designed in close collaboration with prominent industry professionals, it offers many new features and clever details to make life easier on the set and in rental. These include extra attachment points for rigging, operating buttons with an adjustable backlight and the fixed gap technology in the film gate for utter simplicity in maintenance. And to top it all, a number of new accessories have been inspired by the 235, including the Lightweight Follow Focus LFF-1, the On Board Battery OBB-1, the External Display EXD-1 and a new ARRI/Zeiss Lightweight Zoom (LWZ-1).
