(NAB 2009, LAS VEGAS) – With so many diverse camera choices for
filmmakers in the market, ARRI is expanding its line of world-renowned
accessories to accommodate these new tools. ARRIÂ’s decades of experience
bring dependability and thoughtful design to elevate existing equipment with even
more creative options. From a state-of-the art Wireless Lens Control System to a
new PL Mount DirectorÂ’s Viewfinder, these new professional camera accessories
marry the best of time-proven technology with the latest advancements. All of
these products are now available.
MMB-1 ACCESSORIES - Building on the success of the MMB-1 system
designed for smaller handheld HD cameras, ARRI has designed several new
accessories to maximize the systemÂ’s cross compatibly. New top and side flags
provide greater light control. A 138 to 130mm adapter is now available to step
down the rear clamping mechanism for compatibility with the complete line of
MB-20 clamp adapter rings. New filter frames for the popular 4 x 4 size are
available along with a 4. x 5.65 tray with closed corners. For those wanting to use
horizontally graduated filters, a retrofit kit is available to adapt the rear stage to a
top-loading configuration. The current back diameter of the MMB-1 is 138mm; a
retrofit kit for a 143mm will accommodate the standard MB-20 bellows rings while
allowing greater clamping compatibility for larger lens diameters.
MB-28 MATTEBOX - ARRI has designed the MB-28 Mattebox specifically to fit
the Angenieux Optimo 24-290mm zoom in addition to prime lenses. One, threestage
mattebox can now cover both needs. It is a 6.6 x 6.6 wide angle compact
mattebox with the front two trays independently rotatable 360 degrees from the
rear stage. In addition to 6.6 x 6.6 filters, the MB-28 incorporates 4 x 5.65
reduction tray inserts for smaller filter sizes. The rear bellows can hold a 6” round
filter and can be stepped down to fit various lenses using standard MB-20
reduction rings. The swing away arm is available for 15mm and 19mm
bridgeplates as well as Panavision standards.

PL MOUNT DIRECTORÂ’S VIEWFINDER - The ARRI PL Mount DirectorÂ’s Finder
is a compact handheld unit for viewing through the lens without the need for a
camera. Ground Glasses are the standard ARRIFLEX 435 frame with hundreds
of 35mm formats available. New for 2009 is a Ground Glass for RED One
shooters with both the 4K 16:9 and 2:1 active sensor area frame lines. Custom
formats using the ARRI Ground Glass On Demand Composer are also possible.
The unit is compatible with all PL mounted lenses including digital specific zooms
such as the Angenieux Rouge. The finder covers the full ANSI Super 35 format.
WIRELESS LENS CONTROL SYSTEM - ARRI has designed a new Wireless
Lens Control System suitable for up to three-axis control. The Wireless Compact
Unit WCU-3 handset has the capability to control two axes, plus camera run/stop.
With a built-in programmable focus knob and thumb slider, its readily available
Lithium-ion batteries power the unit for up to 12 hours of continuous operation.
The WCU-3 is rugged and weatherproof for demanding production environments.
For adapting the system to any camera, the Universal Motor Controller UMC-3A
has the capability of either a 12v or 24v input. To complete the system the CLM-3
Lens Control Motor is the fastest, most powerful motor ever created. It is suitable
for larger primes and zooms that other motors have difficulty operating.
