EN GUERRE DP Eric Dumont in Cannes

DP Eric Dumont talked to ARRI at the Cannes International Film Festival about EN GUERRE (AT WAR), and why he loves the ALEXA Mini and Master Grips.

EN GUERRE (or AT WAR, in English) tells the story of an industrial dispute in south west France. Workers are faced with losing their jobs when a car parts factory is threatened with closure. We learn that they had previously agreed to a pay freeze to keep the plant open. It is filmed in a documentary style, with improvised scenes involving non-professional actors, and some news footage inserts.

Eric Dumont shot much of the film on the shoulder, so the light and versatile ALEXA Mini was an obvious choice of camera for him. And he also opted for ARRI Master Grips, because he needed to be close to the action, and to be able to react quickly.

“I'd never used Master Grips before,” he told us, “without them, I don't think I could have done this film. I use them all the time now, because I like to work fast.”
