ARRI products win three Cinec Awards
ARRI products have won three awards at the 2012 Cinec show in Munich. The ALEXA Studio camera and L-Series lighting range both received Cinec Award statuettes (collected respectively by ARRI Product Managers Marc Shipman-Mueller and Ryan Fletcher), while the Wireless Compact Unit WCU-4 received a Special Award in the form of a white lion trophy (collected by ARRI Product Manager Hendrik Voss).
Cinec 2012, the 9th International Trade Fair for Cine Equipment and Technology, was held at the MOC Events Center in Munich between September 22nd and 24th. ARRI presented its latest advances at the show, including ALEXA updates, a new M90/60 light, additions to the L-Series, a new range of ARRI/ZEISS Master Anamorphic lenses, versatile Wireless Remote System tools and affordable Pro Camera Accessories.
Experts from ARRI's camera and lighting divisions joined world-class DPs in giving presentations at the cineCongress, which was titled 'The Future of Cinematography', with ARRI Managing Director Dr. Martin Prillmann welcoming attendees to the forum.
The awards ceremony on September 23rd was preceded by an address from Martin Zeil, Deputy Bavarian Minister-President and Bavarian State Minister of Economic Affairs, Infrastructure, Transport and Technology. The ceremony was presented by Professor Peter C. Slansky of the Munich Academy of Television and Film's Department of Technology, who acted as chairman of the Cinec Awards jury.
The ALEXA Studio is the flagship model in ARRI's range of ALEXA cameras. Equipped with an optical viewfinder, spinning mirror shutter and 4:3 sensor, it perfectly combines the best elements of ARRI film cameras with the staggering image quality of ALEXA digital capture, and was used to shoot the upcoming James Bond film, Skyfall.
ARRI's L-Series, a versatile and efficient range of LED-based Fresnel lighting fixtures, represents the energy-efficient, eco-friendly future of studio and location lighting. L-Series lampheads are fully color tunable and can reduce electricity usage by 75%, with further cost savings brought about by a light engine that lasts 200 times longer than a conventional tungsten bulb.
Announced at IBC in Amsterdam, just before Cinec, the ARRI Wireless Compact Unit WCU-4 is the most sophisticated and user-friendly wireless lens and camera control unit on the market. It is an all-inclusive and yet affordable hand unit offering up to 3-axis control, along with a whole range of innovative, ergonomically designed features.
