This by Ericsson Broadcast Services operated television network was in need of a new studio for their sports channel. The ARRI System Group provided a suspension solution by custom designing the ARRI Mini Hoists. As the network converted a former warehouse into a studio there was special attention to be paid to the height of the machines to observe the most practical clearance and flexible illumination of the space within all given restrictions.

Technical details: 18 self-climbing hoists type HFU50 with a bottom pipe, built-in digital receiver cards for up/down movement and status control, Eco Touch wall panel with 10” color touch screen and wifi remote control.

Oman TV (2013), Salalah - Oman

Refurbishing two studios of about 200m² and 260m² for daily public broadcast shows. Newly built news room for daily news, sports and weather reports operating in an 18-hour cycle per day.

The studios have been equipped with a new data network, new self climbing hoists, a new dimmer system and ARRI Tungsten, Fluorescence and LED fixtures.

The focus of this project was on realizing long lasting, energy efficient and easy to operate multi purpose studios.

OLYMPIC COMPLEX ASIAN GAMES 2017 Ashgabat – Turkmenistan

Current Project and future prospect:
Ashgabat Olympic Complex

Ashgabat will host the 2017 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games, Turkmenistan’s first international sporting tournament. The 157 ha sports complex in Ashgabat City will be executed in 3 building phases.

As part of phase 1 ARRI designed 5 state-ofthe-art television studios just for the Indoor Velodrome supporting Turkmenistan in creating an Olympic standard series of sporting arenas and attracting athletes from around the world.

Under the leadership of the President of Turkmenistan, this project is part of a significant programme of new facilities for culture and sports initiated to fulfil Turkmenistan´s desire to participate on a world stage. Consequently stadiums, sports facilities and sports grounds have been spread throughout the country in order to promote high levels of participation.

As a first step ARRI is currently providing Broadcast lighting design services for various projects in Turkmenistan:

  • 3 production studios with ARRI self-climbing hoists, 3-track curtain systems, LED and Fluorescent lights
  • 2 smaller studios for presenters with LED luminaires
  • Location lighting kits

Scope of activities:
Dismantling of the old structures Design and installation of a new electrical infrastructure.

Main power distribution for a dimmerless operated, high energy efficient studio environment.

Design and installation of a new lighting control network based on Ethernet protocol TCP IP containers, like Artnet & sACN, with the use of ADB Freedom light control boards.

36 manual, moveable, self-climbing hoists ARRI HFU50, mounted on a rail system and controlled via digital hoist control board. All hoists are equipped with a node to convert sACN / Artnet signal to DMX 512-RDM.

72 ARRI L7-DT, ARRI L7-C as well as ARRI studio cool and Cyc FL fluorescence soft lights, ADB ALC 4-2 and Coemar Ledko profiler.

Because of the fact that the studio is equipped with several Barco video walls and interactive touch screen monitors, the white balancing is based on 5600k daylight preset.
All fixtures are individually calibrated to fulfil requirements for daylight balanced operation.

Bunsensaal (2014), Berlin - Germany

Bunsensaal in Berlin-Adlershof, Germany

Hi-tech lighting solution for historical site:
The conference hall called Bunsensaal named after the German chemist Robert Bunsen was built in the 30s of last century in the Bauhaus style together with the adjoining complex of buildings. The architects Hermann Brenner and Werner Deutschmann designed the building for the Deutsche “Versuchsanstalt für Luftfahrt”, which later became the German Aerospace Center. Heavily damaged in WWII and inconsiderately repaired it was rather unattractive for over 60 years until it was recently renovated and brought back to its old splendor. While tearing down bricked up areas the architect opened up the original windows and revealed the light concrete ceiling beams.

The ARRI Lighting Designer choose 16 LED fixtures of the L-Series in Color to be able to match with the ambient light during daytime and take advantage of other features like the full range of color temperatures and colors for any kind of events. The fixtures are hung on minimal two-point trussing almost blending in with the sparse interior design. Total space of 540m² including one 100m² stage, 16 L7-C luminaires, lighting console and additional wifi tablet.

The 75.500 m² Kazakhstan National TV and Radio Station houses 20 television channels operating 14 highly modern 1080p HD production studios for film and television of various sizes and functions equipped with over 1500 Arri luminaires and Arri suspension systems like 200 hoists and 400 pantographs and 2500 dimmer channels providing 7,5 MW:

TV- channel-Al Hijrah (2010), Kuala Lumpur - Malaysia

The 264 sqm large studio, with a height of 11 m, was planned and designed to be used as a multi- purpose studio. It is equipped with 15 ARRI True Blue ST 2 Kw, 40 ARRI True Blue ST1, 30 ARRI Junior 650 and 20 ARRI Studio Cool 4 bank. All lampheads are pole operated. 24 pieces of ARRI Cyclo 1 bank, manually operated, with 1250 W are installed for the illumination of the curtain system.

For the truss system 2 truss circles, 6 truss bars and a number of chain hoists and accessories were installed. Movement of the truss- groups (1 group max. 8 chain hoists) is controlled by a touch panel remote control system.

ICTIMAI (ITV) (2010), Baku - Azerbaijan

600 sqm for different purposes, such as entertainment, shows and the production of TV-series

Dozhd TV (Rain TV) (2010), Moscow - Russia

A smaller 130 sqm art studio and a bigger 800 sqm studio incorporating a news and conference room designed and equipped with ARRI Junior 650, Studio Cool, Cyclo and True Blue T1, T2, ST2 and ST5 fixtures. The heights of the studios (3.8 m in the smaller and 4.8 m in the bigger) determined that 12 spring pantographs and 12 telescopic hangers on a special rail system would be the best solution. ARRI also designed and supplied a curtain rail setup for both studios.
