German Newsletter Esteemed clients, dear friends of ARRI,
Enclosed, please find the most recent edition of the ARRI Film & TV newsletter. This time we mark the occasion of two theatrical releases: Jaume Collet-Serra's action-packed thriller Unknown Identity, which the Spanish director shot on location in Berlin with an all star cast, and Hans W. Geißendörfer's impressive In der Welt habt Ihr Angst, a film that is part melodrama, part love story, which he wrote, directed and produced.
Enjoy the read!
All the best, Angela Reedwisch and Walter Brus
Unknown Identity, a gripping thriller based on Didier van Cauwelaert's novel, marks the third collaboration of the Spanish director Jaume Collet-Serra (Orphan) and producer Joel Silver (Dark Castle). Studio Babelsberg co-produced Unknown Identity, which was filmed in the Studio Babelsberg facilities in Potsdam and on location in Berlin, Brandenburg and Leipzig. Flavio MartÃnez Labiano, one of Spain's most exceptional DoP's, was behind the camera. German distributor Kinowelt is releasing Unknown Identity domestically.
Studio Babelsberg entrusted ARRI Film & TV with the film's lab work. ARRI Rental provided camera, light and grip equipment for the project.
When Dr. Martin Harris (Liam Neeson) wakes up from a coma after a serious car accident, his real nightmare is just about to start: His wife Elizabeth (January Jones) no longer recognizes him and another man (Aidan Quinn) has taken his place - not just as Elizabeth's husband, but also at a conference where the renowned scientist is about to give an important lecture. And as if this wasn't enough, Harris also finds himself pursued by a killer (Stipe Erceg). What has happened? Harris is starting to question his sanity. Hoping to get his wife and his old life back, he looks for Gina (Diane Kruger), the cab driver who saved his life after the accident. She and the former Stasi spy Jürgen (Bruno Ganz) prove to be the only allies Harris has in the battle over his identity against an immensely powerful opponent.
Hans W. Geißendörfer, a multi-award winning director, author, producer and creator of Lindenstraße, tells us about a love strong enough to move mountains in his moving feature film, In der Welt habt Ihr Angst. Directing from his own screenplay, Geißendörfer takes a subtle approach, relying mostly on the powerful and captivating performances of his three main actors, Anna Maria Mühe, Max von Thun and Axel Prahl. DoP Alexander Fischerkoesen is responsible for the images. Movienet Film is bringing this drama, featuring an impressive cast, to German theaters.
The production company, Geißendörfer Film, entrusted ARRI Film & TV with the film's post production, including lab, Digital Intermediate and HD Mastering. ARRI Rental provided camera equipment.
The moving love story of Eva (Anna Maria Mühe), a student, and a musician, Jo (Max von Thun), is overshadowed by their attempt to kick their drug habit. Going cold turkey, they are planning to start anew with a clean slate in New Zealand, but they need money to pay for their flight. When an attempt to rob a used bookstore goes wrong, Jo finds himself under arrest and Eva, who's pregnant, tries to convince her stuffy Latin teacher, Paul (Axel Prahl), to let her move in while holding him at gun point. |
