Oscar winners choose ARRI

ARRI film and digital cameras dominated as the capture tools of the Oscar winners at the 86th Annual Academy Awards. Best Picture honors went to 12 YEARS A SLAVE, directed by Steve McQueen and shot by Sean Bobbitt, BSC on ARRICAMs supplied by ARRI CSC. The film also took home awards for Actress in a Supporting Role and Writing (Adapted Screenplay).

The film with the most awards of the night was GRAVITY, accumulating seven golden statues for Best Directing, Cinematography, Film Editing, Music (Original Score), Sound Editing, Sound Mixing and Visual Effects. GRAVITY was captured on ALEXA in ARRIRAW with Master Prime lenses supplied by ARRI Media. Additional footage was shot using the ARRIFLEX 765. This is the third year in a row that the winner of the cinematography category, as well as the visual effects category, was captured with ALEXA.

Italy’s entry THE GREAT BEAUTY won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Film. Directed by Paolo Sorrentino and shot by Luca Bigazzi, the Italian entry relied on ARRICAM and ARRI/ZEISS Ultra Prime lenses.
