ARRI at Camerimage 2012
ARRI will once again be supporting the Plus Camerimage International Film Festival of the Art of Cinematography in 2012, the year in which the festival, a key event in the industry calendar, marks its twentieth anniversary.
On our main booth at the Opera Nova Festival Center, we will showcase some of our latest developments. An ALEXA Studio, the flagship model in the range of ALEXA cameras, will be equipped with a Codex Onboard ARRIRAW recorder and a prototype lens from the forthcoming ARRI/ZEISS Master Anamorphic series. An ALEXA M will be configured in a handheld setup to demonstrate its compact portability, while an ALEXA Plus will be coupled with an ARRI/FUJINON Alura Zoom 30-80/T2.8, illustrating how perfectly suited ALEXA is to the new Alura Lightweight Zooms.
The ARRI Look Creator will be demonstrated live on a MacBook Pro, showing how unique looks for ALEXA can easily be created and applied on set. ARRI film cameras will also be present, in the form of an ARRICAM Lite and an ARRIFLEX 235. ARRI lights on the booth will include the new M90/60 fixture, which introduces an entirely new power class, and the groundbreaking L-Series of LED Fresnels. OSRAM, one of our key technology partners in the field of lighting, will share our booth and showcase some its recent breakthroughs in bulb design.
A second ARRI booth at the Festival Center will be dedicated to ARRI's rapidly growing range of Pro Camera Accessories. Third party cameras such as the Blackmagic Cinema Camera, Nikon D800 and Canon C500 will be equipped with ARRI accessories including the Mini Baseplate MBP-3, Mini Follow Focus MFF-2, Cage Support System and Universal Shoulder Pad USP-2, demonstrating how the latest small form factor cameras can benefit from the reliability, precision and ergonomic functionality of ARRI engineering.
A trio of acclaimed cinematographers will lead ARRI's camera and lighting workshops at Camerimage this year. Oscar-nominated British DP Danny Cohen, BSC, whose credits include JOHN ADAMS, THE KING'S SPEECH, and the soon-to-be-released LES MISÉRABLES, will explore the same scene on three different formats, with help from the audience. Gernot Roll, BVK, whose work on THE MAN WITH THE BASSOON was recognized with an audience award for best miniseries at Germany's prestigious Bambi Awards in 2011, will present a workshop on shooting black-and-white with the ARRI ALEXA. And finally the revered Oliver Stapleton, BSC, cinematographer on features including THE CIDER HOUSE RULES, BUFFALO SOLDIERS, NED KELLY and most recently THE GUILT TRIP, will return as an ARRI guest speaker to present a workshop on lighting techniques, co-sponsored by OSRAM.
