Arbeiten mit HD-VIDEO
When ARRI introduced the internal recording for ALEXA cameras, many productions immediately adopted recording to SxS Pro cards for the ease of use. Because the image delivered over the REC HD-SDI output does not contain frame lines or status information, this output is now often used as dedicated monitoring output for director and producers and/or to feed video assist.
Nevertheless, there are applications where recording to XR Capture Drive, SxS Pro card or CFast 2.0 card may not be the right choice. A wildlife photographer may need the camera to record continuously for several hours. A nature photographer may require interval capture. For studio applications or visual effects shots, it may be necessary to have access to the uncompressed HD-SDI signal.
ALEXA delivers progressive HD video in RGB 4:4:4 or YCbCr 4:2:2 color space over it's 1.5G or 3G HD-SDI interface, which makes it compatible to a very wide range of recorders with HD-SDI input.
Productions for prime time television typically want to use the best quality output and are recommended to use uncompressed RGB 4:4:4 Log C recording.
Productions without the need for complex postproduction or with focus on quick and efficient production are recommended to use YCbCr 4:2:2 Rec 709 video recording.
