Sometimes, at an advanced age, childhood memories become more vivid than even the most recent experiences. This is definitely something the freespirited Konrad Lang (Gérard Depardieu) can attest to, as he keeps forgetting recent events while his memories of early childhood become all the more clear. For that and other reasons he returns to the Senn's, a family of wealthy industrialists that Konrad used to be a member of through his friendship with Thomas Senn (Niels Arestrup). Surprised by this sudden nervous tension in the family, Simone (Alexandra Maria Lara), the young wife of the heir to the family fortune, finds herself more and more drawn to this confused old man, while the rest of the family distances themselves. As Simone begins to piece together the puzzle with the help of Konrad's memories, she doesn't realize that she is about to discover a grave family secret...
