Constantin Film will release director/producer Paul W. S. Anderson’s spectacular new take on The Three Musketeers in stereo 3D in German theaters. The filmmaker, previously known for futuristic dystopias such as the Resident Evil franchise, and his DoP, Glen MacPherson, chose ARRI's newest digital camera technology, the ALEXA, for this undertaking. Constantin Film entrusted ARRI Film & TV in Munich with the postproduction of this large-scale British-German collaboration, which was completed in one of ARRI Film & TV's brand-new 3D grading suites (DI Producer: Christian Herrmann, DI Colorist: Traudl Nicholson). ARRI Rental supplied the 3D production with lighting and grip equipment. The Three Musketeers was produced by Constantin Film and Impact Pictures.

For Paul W. S. Andersen, The Three Musketeers marks the first production he completed entirely - production and postproduction - in Germany. Anderson was impressed by the preparation, the technology, the service, and the team, as well as the final approval process: "Perfect preparation thanks to Harald Schernthaner (ARRI Head of Digital Filmworks) and Christopher Berg (Postproduction Supervisor) made this the best postproduction experience I can think of. We were the first film crew that got to enjoy the technological capabilities of the brand-new 3D grading suite at ARRI Film & TV." Later, in LA, the enthusiastic reception at the test screenings confirmed just how good the results were.

More about the collaboration of ARRI Film & TV Services, ARRI Rental and the Three Musketeers team in the next edition of our VisionARRI magazine later this fall.

France in the 17th century. On his first day in Paris the young D'Artagnan (LOGAN LERMAN) takes on the three musketeers: Athos (MATTHEW MACFADYEN), Porthos (RAY STEVENSON) and Aramis (LUKE EVANS). But when the able swordsman puts the scoundrel Rochefort (MADS MIKKELSEN) and his troops to rout, the trio accepts the young adventurer in their midst. Together they must prevent the imminent war between France and England precipitated by the power-hungry Cardinal Richelieu (CHRISTOPH WALTZ) and the evil Milady de Winter (MILLA JOVOVICH). The victims of this intrigue are the gullible King Louis XIII. (FREDDIE FOX) and the duke of Buckingham (ORLANDO BLOOM). The task at hand forces the foursome to undertake spectacular adventures on land, at sea and in the air, leading them to the most secret locations and into the most dangerous situations. To survive they must adhere to their motto: One for all! All for one!
