German Newsletter Esteemed clients, dear friends of ARRI,
Enclosed, please find the most recent edition of the ARRI Film & TV newsletter. The occasion is the theatrical release of Das Ende ist mein Anfang - the moving and insightful adaptation of the memoirs of Tiziano Terzani, the longtime Southeast Asia correspondent of DER SPIEGEL, directed by Jo Baier.
Enjoy the read!
Producer Ulrich Limmer (Lippels Traum, Die Friseuse) co-wrote the screenplay to Das Ende ist mein Anfang with Folco Terzani, and Jo Baier (Stauffenberg) directed this insightful and moving adaptation of the memoirs of the longtime Southeast Asia correspondent of Der Spiegel. DoP Judith Kaufmann, who was awarded the Deutsche Kamerapreis for her work on Die Fremde in 2010, created the multifaceted and emotional images. Filming took place in the northern part of the Toscana region at original locations. Das Ende ist mein Anfang is a production of collina filmproduktion in co-production with B.A. Produktion, the BR, the SWR, arte and Degeto Film.
Sensing that he hasn't got much time left, Tiziano Terzani asks his son, Folco, to come see him. In the family's home in the Tuscan mountains, he tells him the story of his adventurous life - the legacy of a great traveler and dedicated journalist who lived in Asia, India and China in search of alternatives to Western capitalism and, initially, in the hope for more justice. At the end of his life this journey becomes a spiritual one. He realizes that the only revolution leading to lasting change is the one that takes place within oneself. This gripping adaptation of the bestseller stars Bruno Ganz, Elio Germano and Erika Pluhar. |
