German Newsletter

Esteemed clients, dear friends of ARRI,

Enclosed, please find the most recent edition of the ARRI Film & TV newsletter, this time to announce the first big screen adventure of the world's most famous friends. Fünf Freunde is based on the eponymous series of children's novels by Enid Blyton and directed by Mike Marzuk, who added laughs and upped the ante.

Tage die bleiben, from writer/director Pia Strietmann, who approached this unusual film about grieving with unexpected lightness and humor, is also coming to theaters this Thursday.

And so is the comedy Berlin Kaplani from Turkish director Hakan Algül. The film follows the life of boxer and bodyguard Ayhan, who's hoping for a miracle that will end his misery.

We hope you enjoy reading more about these films!

All the best,

Angela Reedwisch and Josef Reidinger

For the first time the five friends, George (Valeria Eisenbart), Julian (Quirin Oettl), Dick (Justus Schlingensiepen), Anne (Neele Marie Nickel) and Timmy, the dog, are spending their vacation together and it is quickly turning into quite the adventure. During a beach excursion, they make an astonishing discovery in a cave used by bootleggers. They immediately realize that George's dad, Quentin (Michael Fitz), a famous inventor, is in grave danger! The professor has set up a lab on a rugged island to work on a new method to generate power. Someone, however, seems to be after his valuable research findings. But neither the police officers, Peters and Hansen (Armin Rohde and Johann von Bülow), nor George's mother, Fanny (Anja Kling), believe the children. That's why the five friends themselves set out to track down the culprits. The trail leads to two suspicious filmmakers (Alwara Höfels and Elyas M'Barek) who make films about animals and a mysterious man (Anatole Taubman) who claims to be a spy. Finally, the five friends discover a secret passage below the sea leading right to the island, where they uncover a staggering conspiracy.

Christian Dewenter loses his wife unexpectedly in a car accident. For the first time the philandering husband, the estranged son and the pubescent daughter are forced to act like a family. As each of them struggles with their own feelings, they fail to allow themselves to grieve together. Meanwhile, they are confronted with a host of challenges, such as choosing the right coffin, deciding who should get the stamps for the funeral announcements and, most importantly, how to keep up the lies they've been telling all their lives at a time when everything comes to the surface.

In Tage die bleiben a family comes at once apart and together during the few days when life is revealed in all its absurdity, making us cry and laugh - sometimes at the same time.
