ARRI OPEN HOUSE - FEBRUARY 15, 2011

It was outside, in front of the building, lit festively with ARRI lights, where the first highlight awaited the invited guests: a fully equipped trailer to provide dailies support on set. The visitors could take a close look at the unique trailer first deployed for the 3D shot of Vicky and the Treasure of the Gods.

Next up was a 3D set consisting of two ALEXA cameras on a stereotec rig which ARRI Rental Berlin had set up in the lobby. Wearing 3D glasses the guests could watch the captured images on a monitor. Members of the rental and post production teams from Berlin and Munich were on hand to assist interested visitors answering questions about the workflow and equipment involved.

The sound studio and the presentation conducted there were not only popular but also convinced filmmakers of the quality of ARRI's sound capabilites. In the large grading cinema several demo reels about visual effects, Digital Intermediate and degraining with Relativity were screened throughout the event and the ALEXA showreels were shown as digital and as 35mm projections.

In an additional room ARRI Rental showcased several of their cameras but the ALEXA camera attracted most of the interest. Once again people - and that included everyone not just cameramen - were impressed by the camera's straightforward handling and workflow.
